No-Sew Ombre Lace Trim Shorts

Had a few days off and was able to do some DIY'n;  excited to share these adorable 'no-sew' lace shorts. Last year I dyed these white denim cut-offs that I had, and recently I wanted to add some lace trim in an 'ombre effect'! LOVE how they turned out and was so easy!

Yesterday I talked my adorable little sister into coming in to our boutique Whittaker House and trying some of my favorite spring looks on, so I could photograph them and show them to you all!! I mean seriously, how cute is she! 

 I think we can all agree... I have NEVER been so ready for spring weather and spring clothing! After combining all the looks into one place, I think its safe to say that spring will be all about neutrals with bright pops of neon and coral! I also am loving bright statement necklaces, oversized totes, and studded everything!!

DIY Leopard Slides

I have featured my creative little sis many times; and today I am sharing a super easy DIY from her! She is always taking things and making them her own; and I LOVE this easy little addition to her Adidas slides!

For the Love of {Leather}

As most of you know, my first and main job which I have been doing for 9 years and counting is managing and buying for a clothing store in New Buffalo, Michigan Whittaker House... if you haven't checked us out yet, you should!!! 

This season it is ALL ABOUT leather trim... it was introduced last Fall/Winter, but this year, literally everything I own almost has it!!! To say I love it would be a drastic understatement.. I. AM. OBSESSED.

I wanted to share a few of my absolute FAVORITE things (all from Whittaker House)!

DIY Neon Fringe Earrings

Today really feels like fall, and I am SO not complaining... I LOVE FALL! When most people think fall, they think dark colors... but that doesn't have to be the case! I personally use fall as my time to incorporate ALL colors, and with the huge trend of 'neon' invading the market place; what better time to make your own DIY Neon Fringe Earrings! 

All you need: Earring hooks, metal connectors, thread, & scissors.

Step 1: Attach the earring hooks to the connectors.

Step 2: Cut your thread into short pieces.

Step 3: Tie your threads to the metal connector. (The more you use, the thicker your fringe.)

Step 4: Cut your thread to desired fringe length & enjoy!

DIY {Free People Inspired} Cowboy Boots

This post from our Modern Momma is unreal, and really needs no explanation...

Free People DIY boots

Saw these on Pinterest and had to have a pair! Looked them up and they were sold out. They looked easy enough to make so I decided just to make them. This is a kinda self explanatory DIY but ill let you know what I did.

Take your boots and cut them about 3/4 of the way down to the heel. (I seriously was freaking out about doing this because I kept thinking what I would do if I didn't like how the turned out!!) Then roll the sides all the way down and wrap belts around them. Some belts I cut and some I didn't. I also took a little bit of hot glue and just tacked some spots down where I knew they'd ride up. I think I got them pretty close and saved myself TONS of money!! (Trust me, I did some digging around to see how much they were. YIKES!)

Ahhhhh, where did summer go?!?! I hate to break it to everyone, but it's almost September, which means its almost Fall, yesss, I said it. BUT the great news is... Fall is the BEST season for clothing!!! It's the only time of year that you can combine almost anything in your closet; maybe your denim shorts with your favorite cashmere sweater.... or possibly your favorite dress with a pair of those oh so cute fall boots...I just love all the possibilities of fall! They are endless!

What to Wear {Back to School}

I hate to break it to everyone but it's that time of year...BACK to SCHOOL. When I was in school the only thing cool about going back, was shopping for new clothes!! Back when my biggest worry, was 'What am I going to wear on the first day...?!?' Ha! Those were the days;)!

My sister was the perfect model last week for our What to Wear {Lollapalooza} so I think you will be seeing a lot more of her:)!

Thank God for vacations but I'm SO glad I'm home! Back to DIYing and all things fun! So where I went on vacation all the way on the top of Michigan there is an OVER supply of driftwood. My amazing uncle went on a walk and collected some awesome pieces for me to create the pendants!

All you need is some driftwood, wire, necklace, jump rings and needle nosed pliers.

I didn't have to put wire on the wood but I like the different materials.
The driftwood was still kind of playable so I was able just to loop the ring through the wood and clamp it shut instead of drilling a hole.
Put it all together and what do you get? A killer necklace!
