Bohemian Place Setting Inspiration & DIY Placemat

My pinwheel chevron place setting BLOG POST was a big hit, so I decided to show you a new 'bohemian inspired' place setting with a super easy DIY placemat!

I have rolls and rolls of butcher paper that I always use as my quick fix backdrop for pictures, or Ill cut a piece off for wrapping paper, but this time I decided to cut out a placemat and use my new favorite sharpie color 'Rose Metallic' to write on it and make a few swirly swirls:)! So easy, and I could see this customized for SO many different occasions!

I'm IN LOVE with this feather fabric I found which I actually plan on making a leather fold over clutch with, but if only I could add a few more hours on to everyday! HA.

A little raffia, a feather, and these awesome shapes plate I found a the dollar store, an voila!

{DIY Vertical Fresh Flower Pot} By: Rachel

Just recently I have had followers reaching out to me with their own DIY projects! I received this one from Rachel and LOVED it! I think it looks awesome, and could really fit in with any style landscape! I also love this idea for all of my city friends that live in apartments or condos!! I personally am going to steal the idea and make a little herb garden on my back porch!

All you need: a pallet(in good condition), nails, hammer, handsaw{potting soil, flowers or herbs.}

Directions:
STEP1: Remove 3 pieces of wood off one side of the pallet.
STEP2: Measure the pieces of wood you removed to fit completely under the remaining pieces/slabs of wood. This is to insure the potting soil will stay.
STEP3:Cut each piece and attach with nails.
You will have to make about 6 pieces. The entire bottom can be covered with one full piece/slab of wood.

Thanks so much for sharing Rachel! XOX

DIY Spicy Pickles

Ever since I was little I have been a pickle freak and just last year I started canning my own pickles! I started with a generic recipe, and 'spiced' it up, literally!!
It's just about that time again, so I decided to share my recipe! It really is the BEST! &&& They only take 3 days to cure unlike weeks with other recipes!!

What you need:
6to8 pounds of pickling cucumbers
40 fresh dill sprigs
2 large onions(thinly sliced)
10 fresh jalapeños
red pepper flakes
5 garlic cloves
1 quart water
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup canning salt
 1 quart white vinegar

How to:
Cut each cucumber into spears and onions into slices. Stuff pickles, dill, onions, garlic, & jalapeños into your canning jars, as full as you can stuff them!(Makes about 8 large jars) In a pan combine water, vinegar, sugar and salt. Bring to a boil and stir until salt dissolves. Pour hot liquid into all of your jars and let cool for about an hour with the canning lids off. After cools, add red pepper flakes, put the lids on and put in refrigerator for 3 days minimum! Open and enjoy!

Happy Weekend!

Mac's 1st Birthday Party Decor: Part 2 {DIY Bug Wreath}

I think its safe to reveal the theme for Mac's First Birthday Party: 'Our Bug Is One'... Ughhh now that we got that out, lets get to some fun party décor!!! Our Modern Momma sent me over these pics today, and I thought is was too adorable and too easy no to share today!

{ps. Did I mention I designed the invites?!? Cant wait to share!!}

Macs Bug Wreath

I first saw this idea on a mirror frame with all Mc Donald's toys glued on it and spray painted white. I've always wanted to that but didn't have the plastic toys to do it. Then I had my DUH moment.
I decided to do a wreath with all bugs and #1's. The only thing was I couldn't find 3 inch cardboard ones anywhere!! Ugh! So I went home and thought about it.

 I saw at hobby lobby they had huge letters and numbers. I just decided to slap one huge number one on it and call it a day. After his party I'm ripping off the one gluing some bugs and spray painting it black for a Halloween wreath! I think I'm going do this for each of his parties!

All I did was buy a grapevine wreath a ton of bugs from the dollar store and hot glued them on. I spray painted it only because some lizards were hot pink (not that it mattered) but I didn't want a ton of different colors mixed in with the party décor. So I used a whole can of white spray paint and Ta-Da!

I love that she gave the idea to spray it black and re-use it for Halloween!!!

I can't wait to see what else comes out of our DIY'ing Modern Momma for Mac's Party!
